Reclamation announces fire restrictions for northern Nevada to reduce wildfire risks The Bureau of Reclamation implemented fire restrictions to reduce wildfire risks on public lands managed by the Lahontan Basin Area Office in Storey, Washoe, Lyon and Churchill counties on July 2 until further notice. The fire restrictions prohibit all campfires and barbeques, except as allowed in the Lahontan State Recreation Area. Portable stoves and lanterns using gas, jellied petroleum or pressurized liquid fuel are allowed. Visitors should use these items carefully and carry shovels, water and fire extinguishers as a precaution. Other restrictions include: No motor vehicles or internal combustion engines off established roads or trails. No possession or use of fireworks. No target shooting with incendiary, tracer, steel core, armor-piercing or exploding ammunition or targets made of material that could explode or emit sparks.
